New-Gen Kia Seltos: A Fresh Design With Hybrid Power

The next-generation Kia Seltos has already been spotted testing on Indian roads, giving a hint of its updated design. Following Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the new model will feature a bolder front fascia with vertical DRLs and a completely redesigned grille. The rear will showcase a sleek LED strip connecting the tail-lamps, inspired by Kia’s global EV lineup such as the EV5.
The SUV is expected to roll on 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, maintaining a sporty yet premium appeal. While the interior has not yet been revealed, it is likely to see significant upgrades in terms of layout and technology. Reports suggest Kia may add first-in-segment features, further boosting its appeal among young buyers and families alike.
Under the hood, the new Kia Seltos will continue with the existing 1.5L petrol, 1.5L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines. However, the highlight is the expected strong hybrid variant, which could pair a 1.5L petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack. If launched in India, this hybrid setup will not only enhance performance but also offer improved fuel efficiency — a key factor for Indian buyers.
Kia Syros EV: Expanding the Electric Portfolio

Alongside the Seltos, Kia is also set to introduce the Syros EV, marking another important step in the brand’s EV expansion. Based on the ICE version of the Syros, the electric variant will carry forward most of its styling while adding EV-specific design elements.
The Syros EV could borrow 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs from the recently launched Carens Clavis EV, delivering driving ranges of up to 490 km on a full charge. Alternatively, it may also use the battery packs from the upcoming Hyundai Inster, which is scheduled for launch in 2026. Competing directly with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and MG Windsor EV, the Syros EV will be positioned as a mass-market yet feature-rich electric SUV.

With Kia’s focus on premium interiors, the cabin will likely include high-quality materials, ample space, and comfort-oriented features for daily commutes as well as long trips.
Expected Price and Launch Timeline

Both models are expected to debut by March 2026. The new-gen Kia Seltos hybrid is likely to be priced in the ₹17 lakh to ₹23 lakh range (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and hybrid technology used. The Kia Syros EV could start around ₹18 lakh to ₹25 lakh, making it a strong contender in the growing mid-size EV SUV space.
