Focused Strategy with the Kinetic DX

At the heart of this plan is the Kinetic DX, which has been brought back as a modern EV tailored for today’s urban riders. The company is targeting sales of 40,000 units in the first year, with plans to ramp up production to 1.5 lakh units annually within three years. Unlike some competitors who push multiple models at once, Kinetic will focus entirely on scaling the DX initially, before introducing advanced or smaller variants.

Design and Build

The new Kinetic DX carries forward a sleek and practical design that resonates with modern commuters while still hinting at the nostalgic appeal of its earlier models. Built for city use, the DX keeps a compact yet sturdy profile, offering riders the convenience of a lightweight scooter combined with the strength of durable components. Kinetic has modernized the scooter with stylish finishes and practical touches to make it appealing to a younger audience.

Battery and Performance

The DX is powered by an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, which is known for its safety and durability. Depending on the variant chosen, the scooter offers reliable performance suited to daily commuting needs. It has ensured that the DX competes directly with established rivals like Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather 450 series, and Hero MotoCorp Vida V2, placing it firmly in the competitive urban EV scooter market.

Price and Variants

Kinetic has priced the DX competitively, with two variants available between Rs 1.11 lakh and Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it right in the heart of India’s fast-growing electric scooter segment, making it a compelling choice for buyers looking for a reliable and affordable EV option.

It already has 20 dealers signed up ahead of the launch, mainly in western India, and aims to reach 150 dealers across 50–60 markets in the first year alone. Major cities like Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Surat, and Raipur will lead the rollout before the brand expands into smaller towns, which account for nearly half of India’s EV sales today.

Manufacturing and Investment

It is leveraging its strong industrial base to support the DX rollout. Key components, including the motor, controller, battery, chassis, and sheet metal, are being manufactured within the its Group itself. Production is being carried out at the company’s Ahilya Nagar facility in Maharashtra, which has been modernized to handle EV assembly. Currently, it can produce 6,000 units a month in a single shift, with the capacity to double output as demand grows.

The company has already invested Rs 80 crore into the project, with an additional Rs 177 crore planned for working capital and marketing over the next few years. This strong backing underscores Kinetic’s long-term commitment to the EV market.

Looking Ahead

While the domestic market remains the primary focus, Kinetic is also eyeing potential opportunities abroad in regions like Africa, the UAE, Vietnam, and parts of Europe. For now, however, the spotlight remains on making the Kinetic DX a household name in India’s urban mobility landscape.

With its combination of heritage, competitive pricing, and a focused strategy, Kinetic Watts and Volts is set to make the DX a key player in India’s EV revolution.
