The iconic Mitsubishi Pajero is set to make a comeback in a Next-Gen Mitsubishi Pajero, and test prototypes have now been spotted in Southern Europe. Expected to debut globally later in 2025, the upcoming Pajero (also known as the Montero in some markets) will bring a modern take on the brand’s legendary off-road SUV.

Design Inspired by Classic Ruggedness
Despite the heavy camouflage, the Next-Gen Mitsubishi Pajero’s familiar tall and square silhouette is visible. The upright nose, wide front grille, and vertically stacked LED daytime running lights all point towards a design that blends traditional off-road proportions with modern detailing. A prominent skid plate at the front further enhances its tough appeal.
The side profile appears to take cues from the Mitsubishi DST concept showcased in late 2024, featuring bold lines and shorter overhangs. At the rear, the SUV seems to borrow design elements from the latest Nissan Patrol, including vertical window panels, connected LED tail lamps, and a large bumper with an oversized skid plate for extra protection.
Next-Gen Mitsubishi Pajero Platform and Build
While some reports suggest the SUV could move to a unibody platform similar to the Mitsubishi Outlander, there’s still a possibility of a ladder-frame chassis to preserve its off-road heritage. The production version may replace the Pajero Sport in certain markets, offering a slightly more refined yet equally capable package.
