Triumph to Launch Two New 400cc Bikes in India – What to Expect

Triumph Motorcycles seems ready to expand its growing 400cc line-up in India. Scrambler T4 Expected Around Festive Season

Triumph to Launch Two New 400cc Bikes in India – What to Expect

The first of the two new bikes is likely to be called the Scrambler T4, though the name has not been officially confirmed. Spy shots hint at a distinctive design featuring new side panels, a bench-style seat, block-pattern tyres for mild off-road ability, and a small windscreen for added wind protection. It is also expected to use USD front forks and 17-inch alloy wheels, giving it a balanced mix of rugged and urban appeal.

Under the bodywork, the Scrambler T4 will share the familiar 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with the rest of the range. While output figures may be similar, Triumph could give it a slightly altered state of tune to match its scrambler character. In terms of pricing, it will likely slot below the Scrambler 400 X, with an expected price of around ₹2.60 lakh (ex-showroom).

Possible 400cc Bonneville on the Cards

The second model could see Triumph bringing the iconic Bonneville name into the 400cc segment. Known for its retro charm, the smaller Bonneville is expected to feature a relaxed riding posture, generous use of chrome, and timeless styling cues. Spoke wheels, minimalistic body panels, and a twin-pod instrument cluster are all likely elements in the design.

Like the other 400cc Triumphs, the Bonneville variant will be powered by the same 398cc liquid-cooled single, potentially tuned for smoother and more laid-back performance. Its exact market positioning remains unclear—it could either be priced closer to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 to attract retro buyers or positioned as a premium offering above the Speed 400 to reinforce its classic heritage.

Performance and Range

The 398cc engine in the current Triumph 400cc line-up produces around 40 hp and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The mileage is expected to remain in the 28–30 km/l range, making it suitable for both city commutes and weekend rides.

Launch Timeline

The Scrambler T4 is expected to make its debut around October 2025, during the festive season, while the 400cc Bonneville could follow shortly after. With these additions, Triumph is set to strengthen its position in the competitive mid-capacity motorcycle segment in India.
