Honda Cars India is preparing to step up its SUV game with a new Honda 7 Seater Hybrid SUV, expected to arrive in 2027. This new model will directly compete with popular three-row SUVs like the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus. The upcoming SUV will be based on Honda’s new global PF2 modular platform, which is being developed for sedans, SUVs, hybrids, and EVs.

New PF2 Platform and Design Direction
The PF2 platform has been designed to support hybrid and electric powertrains from the start. The new Honda SUV is being co-developed by the brand’s R&D centres in Japan and Thailand, with major inputs from India. Localisation will play a key role, ensuring competitive pricing for the Indian market.
While design sketches are yet to be revealed, the SUV is expected to follow Honda’s global design language seen on the Elevate and CR-V, but in a larger and more practical three-row format. Expect a bold front fascia, LED lighting, and a strong road presence to match rivals in the segment.

The cabin will be designed for families, with a focus on space, comfort, and technology. Hybrid Powertrain and Mileage
Powering the SUV will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a hybrid system. The standard version is expected to use the Elevate’s naturally aspirated engine, while the hybrid will likely use an upgraded version of the City e:HEV’s Atkinson cycle petrol engine. This setup will be paired with two electric motors and a small battery pack, working together in a self-charging hybrid system.
The hybrid technology will allow the SUV to automatically switch between EV, hybrid, and petrol modes for better fuel efficiency. Expected mileage could be around 20 kmpl, giving it a strong edge over petrol-only rivals.
Honda 7 Seater Hybrid SUV Price and Launch Timeline
The Honda 7 Seater Hybrid SUV is expected to be launched in India by 2027. Prices could start from around ₹18–20 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same bracket as the Safari and XUV700.
With its hybrid tech, premium features, and family-friendly design, Honda’s upcoming 7-seater SUV could be a strong alternative in India’s growing three-row SUV segment.
