1. Next-Gen Hyundai Creta Hybrid

The popular Hyundai Creta will soon enter its fourth generation, internally known as SX3. This all-new version is likely to debut in the next two years with a sharper design, updated features, and a focus on improved efficiency. While most of the existing engine and gearbox options will continue, the biggest addition could be a strong hybrid petrol powertrain.

Reports suggest that Hyundai is developing a locally produced hybrid system that pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a larger battery pack. This setup should offer a significant boost in fuel economy compared to the standard petrol and diesel versions, making it an attractive choice for buyers looking for better mileage. The Creta hybrid is expected to deliver a mileage of around 20-22 kmpl, which will put it right up against the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara.

Alongside the Creta hybrid, Hyundai is working on an all-new three-row SUV that will sit between the Alcazar and the Tucson. Internally codenamed Ni1i, this model is likely to be based on the extended-wheelbase Tucson sold in China, measuring around 4.68 metres in length. The new SUV will offer a more spacious cabin compared to the Alcazar and will be available in both six- and seven-seat configurations.

Like the upcoming Creta, this premium SUV will also feature a strong hybrid powertrain, making it a direct rival to the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus. Production is expected to take place at Hyundai’s Talegaon facility, which was recently acquired from General Motors.

Expected Price & Launch Timeline

Both New Hybrid SUVs are expected to launch by 2026-2027, with prices starting around ₹18 lakh for the Creta hybrid and ₹22-25 lakh for the three-row SUV. With hybrid technology gaining popularity in India, Hyundai’s move seems perfectly timed to take on Maruti, Toyota, and upcoming rivals from Kia and Mahindra.
