With Tesla’s India entry finally official, the Tesla Model Y is expected to be the brand’s first offering in the country. Spotted several times on Indian roads during tests, the Model Y will arrive as a fully imported electric SUV, likely starting above ₹27 lakh.
Let’s take a quick look at what to expect.

The Tesla Model Y India version is expected to come in its Long Range AWD configuration, which means dual electric motors—one on each axle—offering all-wheel-drive traction. The EV can sprint from 0 to 96 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric SUVs in its class. It also offers a top speed of 200 km/h and an EPA-certified range of 526 km on a full charge.

In terms of design, the Model Y gets a refreshed front with sleeker LED headlights and connected tail-lights at the rear. Globally, it’s available in six exterior colors, and we expect most of them to be offered in India too. Inside, Tesla keeps it simple with just two interior color options: All Black and All White.

The SUV also includes a large 15-inch touchscreen, minimalist dashboard, wireless charging, and Tesla’s popular software-driven features like Autopilot (though its availability in India is yet to be confirmed).
Tesla Model Y Expected Price in India

Due to the 110% import duty, the Tesla Model Y price in India is expected to start from around ₹27–30 lakh, depending on the variant and final specifications.
While the price may limit its appeal to early adopters, Tesla’s entry marks a big step forward for India’s premium EV space.
