Hyundai Verna and Tucson Lead the Brand’s 5-Star Safety Line-up

Hyundai has been steadily strengthening its safety portfolio in India, and the results are now showing. Two of its key models – the new-generation Hyundai Verna and the Hyundai Tucson – have both achieved a 5-star safety rating in independent crash tests, setting a benchmark for the brand in the country.

Hyundai Verna – Global NCAP 5-Star for Adults & Children

The latest-gen Hyundai Verna became the first Hyundai model in India to secure a 5-star rating from Global NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection. It scored 28.18 out of 34 for adult safety and 42 out of 49 for child safety.

On the design front, the Verna wears a sharp, coupe-like silhouette with a wide grille and connected LED lighting elements. Inside, the cabin feels modern with a dual-screen setup, premium materials, and comfortable seating. Standard safety kit includes six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, rear parking sensors, and Hill Start Assist. Top variants add an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like lane-keeping assist and forward collision warning.

Under the hood, the Verna offers a choice between a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, paired with manual or automatic transmissions. Claimed mileage ranges between 18–20 km/l, depending on the variant. Prices start from around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Tucson – First Bharat NCAP 5-Star Rated Hyundai

The Tucson holds the distinction of being the first Hyundai model tested by Bharat NCAP, where it also achieved 5-stars in both adult and child protection. It scored 30.84 out of 32 for adult safety and 41 out of 49 for child safety.

The Tucson’s design is bold and upscale, featuring Hyundai’s signature parametric grille, hidden DRLs, and a muscular stance. Inside, it offers a premium, tech-loaded cabin with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, ISOFIX mounts, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. An optional ADAS package is also available.

The SUV is offered with petrol and diesel engine options, both paired with automatic gearboxes. Fuel efficiency is in the 13–15 km/l range, with prices starting around ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom).
