Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for a big showcase in Mumbai on August 15, where it will reveal four new concept vehicles and a brand-new SUV platform. The event, called Freedom_NU, is expected to draw attention from enthusiasts and industry watchers alike, with a mix of electric concepts and lifestyle-focused designs.
One of the most anticipated reveals will be the near-production Mahindra Thar EV concept. While details are still limited, Mahindra says the electric off-roader will retain much of the current Thar’s proportions and rugged appeal. A production version is likely within the next two years, as Mahindra continues to work on electric versions of both the Thar and Scorpio N.

Alongside the Thar EV, Mahindra will showcase the Vision S, Vision T, Vision X, and Vision SXT concepts. The Vision SXT is based on the Global Pik Up concept first seen in South Africa, adopting a design influenced by the Scorpio N but with notable updates. The Vision S appears to preview an all-electric Scorpio N, featuring practical touches like a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a sideways-opening rear door, and bumper-integrated tail lamps.
The Vision X concept is said to be a step towards the upcoming Mahindra XEV 7e, a model related to the XUV.e8 concept and sharing some similarities with the XUV700. Prototypes of what could be the next-generation Mahindra Bolero have also been spotted recently, though it is still unclear if it will make an appearance at this event. Rumours suggest it could get a 1.5-litre diesel engine with more power and torque than the current Bolero Neo.

A key part of the August 15 showcase will be the unveiling of a new SUV platform that will underpin Mahindra’s future SUV portfolio. This architecture is expected to be versatile enough to support both electric and internal combustion models, helping Mahindra compete in multiple segments.
While it has not yet shared price details for the upcoming production models, the company is positioning its electric SUVs to offer competitive range and performance, targeting both urban buyers and off-road enthusiasts.
With electric versions of the Scorpio N and Thar on the horizon, along with multiple new concept designs, Mahindra’s August 15 event is shaping up to be one of the most significant product reveals in recent years.
