Maruti Suzuki XL7 India Launch Soon – 7-Seater MPV with SUV Styling & Strong Mileage

Maruti Suzuki’s range of MPVs and family cars has grown over the years, with the XL6 already enjoying decent success in India. Now, with the Maruti Suzuki XL7 recently launched in Indonesia, there’s growing speculation that the company could bring this new model to the Indian market. While it shares its base with the XL6, the XL7 gets a more SUV-inspired appearance, making it a strong option for those who need the practicality of a 7-seater with a tougher road presence.

Maruti Suzuki XL7 Design and Road Presence

Visually, the XL7 isn’t a complete departure from the XL6, but there are key differences. The front grille and bumper have been slightly redesigned, the use of black cladding around the body adds a rugged appeal, and it comes with roof rails that enhance the SUV-like feel. The overall size is nearly the same as the XL6, which means it’s well-suited for urban driving while still offering enough space for larger families. Expect ground clearance to hover around 200 mm, which makes it capable enough for Indian roads.

Maruti Suzuki XL7 Interior and Features

Inside the cabin, the layout is familiar, but subtle upgrades in upholstery and design may be seen. The Indonesian version features a 7-seater layout with captain seats in the middle row and a third-row bench. Features like a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and rear AC vents are likely to be carried over. Maruti usually keeps its interiors simple and user-friendly, which is expected here as well.

Maruti Suzuki XL7 Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the XL7 in Indonesia uses the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, the same engine seen in India’s XL6. It delivers 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. However, if Maruti does bring it to India, it’s likely to offer the newer K15C engine with Smart Hybrid tech for better fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions.

Maruti Suzuki XL7 Mileage and Practicality

Fuel economy has always been one of Maruti’s key strengths. The XL6 offers up to 20.97 km/l, and since the XL7 uses similar mechanicals, we can expect a mileage of around 17 to 20 km/l, depending on the transmission and driving conditions. With a 45-litre fuel tank, it should be capable of covering long distances without frequent refuelling.

Maruti Suzuki XL7 Expected Price and Launch Timeline

Though Maruti has not officially confirmed the launch of the XL7 in India, it is being strongly considered for early 2025. If launched, it could be priced slightly higher than the XL6, starting around ₹12 lakh and going up to ₹13.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This would place it well below larger MPVs like the Innova Hycross while offering solid value for buyers seeking space, comfort, and economy.
