From the camouflaged test mule, it is clear that while the overall silhouette of the hatchback remains familiar, the design language is moving in a new direction. Other details include newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels, revised tail-lights, and a cleaner rear bumper.

For the Indian market, the next-gen i20 will continue to remain under 4 metres in length, in order to benefit from compact car tax advantages. The Europe-spec version, however, is longer at around 4,065mm.

Globally, the new Hyundai i20 will continue with petrol and mild-hybrid petrol engine options. A new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, debuting on the Hyundai Bayon, could also be introduced and may come with hybrid compatibility. Mileage figures should improve slightly thanks to these powertrain updates.
