Nissan Creta Rival SUV Spied Ahead of 2026 Launch

Nissan Creta Rival: Nissan’s all-new midsize SUV – which will directly compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others – has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. Scheduled to launch by mid-2026, this upcoming SUV will be based on the same platform as the next-gen Renault Duster, and marks a key product in Nissan’s renewed push into India’s growing SUV market.

Nissan Creta Rival: Design Preview

Despite heavy camouflage, the test mule reveals a few clear design cues. At the front, the SUV appears to feature a sculpted bonnet, flared wheel arches, and C-shaped detailing in the bumper – a design language seen in earlier Nissan teasers. A prominent Nissan logo sits at the centre of the grille, flanked by bold LED elements. From the side, the SUV rides on 5-spoke alloy wheels and features roof rails for a more rugged look.

At the rear, design elements include a roof spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and horizontally placed rectangular tail-lamps. The number plate sits centrally on the tailgate, giving the rear a balanced and clean appearance.

Expected Interior and Features

While the cabin wasn’t visible in the spy shots, the new Nissan SUV is expected to share most of its interior layout and equipment with the India-bound Renault Duster. Buyers can expect a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, and a decent list of safety features.

However, the absence of ADAS sensors suggests that Nissan might skip advanced driver assistance features – at least at launch. A seven-seat version of the SUV is also in development, but it will reportedly be a different vehicle altogether, rather than just a stretched 5-seater.

Engine Options and Expected Performance

Nissan’s upcoming midsize SUV will likely offer petrol, hybrid, and CNG powertrain options, just like its Renault counterpart. Initially, a petrol-only variant is expected at launch, followed by a petrol-hybrid version in about a year. Engine specifications have not yet been revealed, but the shared platform ensures compatibility with multiple configurations.

While mileage figures aren’t out yet, the hybrid version should provide improved fuel efficiency, which could appeal to buyers looking for a balance between performance and economy.

Launch Timeline and Price Expectations

The Nissan Creta Rival is expected to debut in India by mid-2026. Pricing details are still under wraps, but given the segment, it’s likely to start around ₹11–₹12 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively against other compact SUVs in the Indian market.
