Although Tesla has not yet confirmed which models it will launch first, it is widely speculated that the Tesla Model Y will lead the way. The SUV has been seen undergoing testing in India multiple times, and customs data has confirmed its import. This model will arrive as a completely built unit (CBU), which means it will attract high import duties. According to reports, the effective price of the Model Y could be around ₹27.69 lakh, with over ₹21 lakh going toward import duties alone.

In terms of design, the facelifted Model Y features a more modern look, including slimmer LED headlights and connected tail lamps at the rear. It is available in six exterior color options such as Stealth Grey, Deep Blue Metallic, and Ultra Red. Inside, buyers can choose between a black or white interior.

The Model Y is expected to come in a dual-motor AWD version with a long-range battery. It offers an EPA-certified range of 526 km and can do 0–96 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 200 km/h.

With this launch, Tesla is starting off with fully imported models and a direct-to-customer retail model in India. Manufacturing here remains off the table for now.
