Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to introduce the Updated 3-Door Mahindra Thar in India, with the launch expected on September 1, 2025. Since its debut in 2020, the Thar has been a strong seller in the lifestyle SUV segment, attracting both off-road enthusiasts and urban buyers. Over the years, Mahindra has expanded the range with the affordable 2WD variant and the recently launched five-door Thar Roxx, both receiving strong market response.

Updated 3-Door Mahindra Thar Design and Exterior Changes
Spy shots of the facelifted Thar suggest styling updates inspired by the Thar Roxx. The SUV will feature a reworked front bumper with fresh detailing around the fog lamp enclosures, a slightly tweaked grille, and new C-shaped LED DRLs integrated into the headlights. New alloy wheel designs will further help differentiate it from the current model. Despite these cosmetic changes, Updated 3-Door Mahindra Thar will retain its signature rugged stance and off-road-focused proportions.

Interior Upgrades and Features
Inside, Mahindra is making notable improvements to enhance comfort and usability. The biggest change is the new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, offering improved graphics and connectivity features. The centre console has been redesigned, and the gear lever area looks cleaner, with a possible addition of a wireless charging pad. The SUV will also get a new steering wheel design and more premium-looking materials. A practical change is the relocation of the power window switches from the centre console to the doors, improving convenience for both driver and passengers.

Updated 3-Door Mahindra Thar Engine and Performance

Under the hood, no mechanical changes are expected. The facelifted Thar will continue to be offered with three engine options — a 1.5-litre diesel, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 2.2-litre diesel. Transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearboxes, along with the choice of 4×2 and 4×4 configurations.
Mileage and Price Expectations
Fuel efficiency figures should remain similar to the current model, with the diesel variants expected to return between 15–16 km/l and the petrol versions delivering around 12–13 km/l under standard conditions. As for pricing, the facelifted Updated 3-Door Mahindra Thar is likely to see a marginal increase over the current range, which starts around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom).
With these updates, Mahindra aims to keep the 3-door Thar fresh and competitive in the growing lifestyle SUV space, appealing to both loyal enthusiasts and new buyers.
