Bajaj Auto has announced that production of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has resumed at full capacity, following a temporary disruption caused by a shortage of heavy rare-earth magnets sourced from China. Production of the Bajaj Chetak had dropped nearly 47 percent year-on-year in July 2025, with output falling to 10,824 units due to the magnet shortage. At the time, Bajaj executives had warned that production could fall to zero in August if supplies did not improve. Now, with sourcing secured, the company says it has sufficient materials to meet demand. Shipments to dealerships have also recommenced, allowing deliveries against bookings to continue without significant delays.
